its tempting…
so I walked into the kitchen area of my new apartment. at the end of the narrow room is a window & almost immediately across from my window is my neighbours window… with my neighbour currently visible within it. it’s uncomfortable for me to live in quarters as close as this but at the same time, I could pull a good prank from here…
hmm.
recession vs depression
I’ve had this thought.. it’s a nagging, lingering gut feeling that this “recession” I hear over & over again by my peers & political leaders, doesn’t actually apply in the real world today…
I had a very old neighbour once. she had lived through at least part of the great depression. I remember looking at her garden, she made use of everything. she got upset or very upset when she saw the neighbours improperly disposing of their things or being down-right wasteful. she regularly told me how life was like for her during the depression… and then it hit.
I’ve heard this economic climate referred to as “the great recession” … but I don’t think that’s what this is. I think that we’re so deep in trouble that our american political leaders don’t want to tell us how it really is, for fear they might cause a panic. we are not living in a ‘great’ recession … it’s a mild depression. we’re putting political pressure on the government to fix this situation & fix it now… which is to be expected but we’re inaccurately informed & scaring easily when change doesn’t come.
recessions have come & gone. we obviously hit a high during the clinton era because I remember people a decade older then myself being given company cars to do jobs that would be thankless now. I believe I am too young to know exactly when the economy began to slowly tank… to the point where most employers won’t provide benefits & everyone’s got at least 2 jobs just to make ends meet… but as bad as it were, something else happened on top of that and now were not coming out of it.
from here on, I see parallels that sound like something out of the pages of a history book… or the lips of my old neighbour. the stock market crashes, there’s a run on the banks. people become poor or homeless in massive numbers. people become less wasteful, many more people have become dependent on charity to survive while others are looking everywhere for jobs that just aren’t there. some people have even given up hope of finding a job & 3 years later, we’re hardly better off.
this, in my opinion is not a recession, there’s no slow & steady improvement. this is a depression.

reply to @D1shadow
yes… he’s still at it. I noticed yesterday that I had recieved two comments that formspring had flagged & hid from me. it’s been a while & I thought I was past all that nonsense but I opened it anyway, for curiousity’s sake. even still, it’s ok because I’m not bothered anymore.
he can do as he pleases. his comments are his own business.
dear james ferace
yes, I got your 2 messages on formspring. you’ll notice you got no reply. instead your getting this one, “ouch. really ouch. omg that hurt. ouch”.
if you haven’t picked up on my sarcastic tone, I’ll spell it out for you. the insults you spew only make me feel bad for you. however, despite this, I do hope you have a nice life.
if your abuses continue, I wont reply & this will be the only time they’re ever mentioned anywhere. I will ignore you.
thank you for you time & good bye.
